The Meta and Twitter Downfall: An Internet History Lesson

Sometimes, the universe has a strange sense of synchronicity. For the most part, daily events are just a collection of loosely corelated series of chaotic events that do not seems to properly connect together. It would actually be a bit strange if they did — almost like we’d be stuck in a simulation.

On a rare occasion though, from the chaos, emerge events that coincidentally find themselves one the same timeline in the space-time continuum. Such is the case with the Facebook and Twitter, and their propensity to go FUBAR at the same time, and in similar circumstances. Let’s jump into it.

The Twitter Blue Fiasco

Have you ever acquired a $44b asset before just to see how fast you can mess it up? If you ever had that urge but didn’t know how it might play out — remember the Twitter Blue Fiasco.

Shortly after acquiring Twitter and becoming its own Chief Twit, Elon Musk, the memelord himself, announced that everyone will be able own a much coveted Verified Badge for $8 a month. It was initially meant to be $20 but good old Sephen King, the writer, told Musk that at $20, the bird simply won’t chirp, at which point Elon started haggling with Stephen.
